Week 4: Creating the Base

Objectives:

  • Build the base of the animatronic
  • Experiment with raspberry pi module
  • Acquiring items needed for project
  • Disassemble the skeleton for modifications

This week in lab, we had most of our materials for the animatronics acquired such as the skeleton, raspberry pi, and touch sensors. However, there were a few items such as motors that we did not fully acquire thus we had to check it our from Drexel. We primarily worked on building a chair for the skeleton to mount on. Aside from that, we also disassembled the skeleton to make modifications for it such as figuring out how to attach a motor to a certain part of the skeleton. Lastly, we experimented with raspberry pi module.

For most of the time, we acquired wood materials to build our base (chair) for the animatronic. We need a base because the skeleton cannot stand by itself. We also used extra wood to reinforce the base. Attached are the different view angles of the base, Figures 1,2,3,4

Our base is nearly complete by the end of the lab. All we need are the arms of the chair, to prevent the skeleton from falling sideways. We will be doing this next week.
