Week 5: Mounting the Motors and Wires

Objectives:

  • Create a mount for the DC motor
  • Building the arms of the chair
  • Creating holes in the elbow of the skeleton

Our first task this week was to connect the DC motor into the skull in order to spin the skull. We started off by creating a small wood piece in which we super glued into a hole under the head of the skull. Under that piece of hole is a small drilled circle in which we super glued the DC motor into. By doing this, the DC motor will be able to properly spin the skull, as shown in Figure 1.

For each motor, we measured the size of the socket to make sure it would fit the hole of the skull perfectly. This is important because we need to make sure the skull will not fall of the mount while in motion.

We didn't finish what we wanted to get done in class this week, so we met up as a team on Thursday to finish creating hole on the elbow of the skeleton. This is to mount the servo motors onto the arms.
